Breaking News: Vegetable Tastes Good, Available in Brooklyn

Don't worry, friend. We're still working on the Bacon Tasting. But here is a healthy aside to get you thru in the interim. The Green Pea grocer on Hot-lantic Avenue (around the corner from Trader Joes) has a box full of fresh Chick Peas. I had previously assumed chickpeas were grown on cans with Goya labels, and now stand corrected. Deliciously corrected. The peas themselves are pale green, toothsome and sweet. Steam a few until the shells turn bright green, then toss with salt and eat edamame style (watch out tho, they collect water). Or get someone to peel them for you, then sautee quickly in oil, lemon, garlic, and hot peppers. If you are truly ambitious, boil and transform into the best... hummus... ever?!

Or just hang tight; we'll be back with bacon, asap.
